My Love for Pepe

Writing Prompt Wednesday: What is your favorite cartoon character?

My favorite cartoon character is Pepe Le Pew and has been since high school. Yeah Pepe is probably not as cute as maybe Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny since one of his most known qualities is that he smells (he’s a skunk so of course). I think my romantic side is what drew me to Mr. Le Pew as I caught a cartoon of his on tv many years ago and thought: He’s just a really romantic soul and misunderstood…why can’t Penelope just give him a chance?

Men I’ve liked have always had a Pepe Le Pew-ness to them although none of them had any awful stench though. Most guys I’ve dated have been very romantic and loved to shower you with love until sometimes you just want to run away screeming.

So when I see my Pepe Le Pew mug or beenie baby or figurine I think of an overflow of love and romance. When I think of Pepe it’s all about the pursuit of a grand love…a love I hope we all experience someday.

Here’s the thing though…I’ve had this obsession since a very young age so much so it feels like just a part of who I am. Let’s take a look at the timeline.
